The hotel location was good. But we don’t have the opportunity to stroll down the street after tour because the shops closed quite early.

Fine hotel, however not great

Spacious and quiet room, nice pool area. Friendly and helpful staff. Big convenience store next to the entrance, close to the local markets.

Sometimes there was a language barrier; not all the staff mastered the English language. Some flooding in the shower and tidiness of the bathroom could be just a bit better. (Also, we had to ask for toilet paper multiple times, it even wasn’t replaced when the roll was finished before cleaning the room). We are two women and felt uncomfortable in bikinis at the pool. Obviously this has to do with the people staying in the hotel at this particular moment, not the hotel staff. Still, it’s good to know it’s also a conference venue, so some men attending the conferences would come to the pool area for a smoke. We were the only western-looking people in the hotel at this moment and felt watched at when we were at the pool. People (both guests and people from the conferences) were trying to take pictures of us in bikinis. Obviously annoying, intimidating and uncomfortable.

Fairly good but nothing special

The room was comfortable. The staff was polite and helpful (Indonesians I've come across are generally very courteous and polite). Good location within the city. Very spacious lobby.

Room service and lobby cafe orders were on cash payment. The room door locking mechanism had issues and i was locked out twice with the card not working. The door didn't have the chain safety lock (seems it was broken and never replaced). There were serious issues with hot water in the shower. The minibar was empty. I had to call room service even for a can of Sprite (on cash payment). Lighting also needs improvement. The room and the bathroom were not well-lit as there weren't enough lights. (This seems like a problem in all hotels in Indonesia). Breakfast was the worst part of the stay. Only three items were non-local: Coffee, cereal and omelette (badly made). Everything else was local and more suited to lunch or dinner. English is not very common. Except for the reception staff, who could communicate fairly well, I faced language problem with the bell boy, room service, door lock fixer boy and with taxi drivers in general. But to be fair, they would all use their translation app and try and communicate as much as they can.

Comfortable hotel with very good facilities

We had to spend a night in Padang before flying back to Australia, and stayed at Rocky Plaza. it was very comfortable. Our room was spacious with a very comfy king-size bed and good sized bathroom with plenty of hot water in the shower. Toilet and wash basin very clean. Flat screen TV worked very well. The staff at reception (especially Ezzie) were very friendly. They helped us print our boarding passes for our flights and arranged a taxi to the airport (it took about 40 minutes and cost Rp.100,000). The buffet breakfast was awesome - tropical fruits, yogurt, cereal, but best of all was the Indonesian menu, including some of my favourites such as black rice pudding, kacang hijau, lontong with spicy curry and beef rendang. Outside the front of the hotel in the evening there are hundreds of stalls selling hot food snacks, clothes, shoes, etc. etc. plus a couple of good Padang restaurants. The swimming pool was clean, not so big (maybe 20 - 25 metres long) but good enough to cool down during the heat of the day.

Check in and check out time was too long. Very slow service at front desk. If you open by CC, they will return the remaining deposit by cash instead return it to CC limit. Quite strange for business trip like me. The food choicesnis very limited. Egg station wasn't ready when when breakfast resto opened.

Good hotel

The hotel location was good. Aircond had problem and they changed my room.

I make payment and deposit using credit card. They charge my payment and deposit as sales. Then they refund deposit with cash. Which it my last day and need no more idr to use.
